Program Overview
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) aims to provide higher education opportunities to talented students from Sub-Saharan African countries each year. Many of these students come from some of the poorest regions in the world and possess significant academic potential. Ashinaga offers them a unique opportunity to study at renowned universities worldwide, providing full scholarships and living expenses for four years during their studies abroad.
The initiative seeks to empower these students to become future leaders and professionals in their home countries, contributing to their societies’ development. The ultimate goal is to help break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Ashinaga Fully-Funded Undergraduate Scholarships, applicants must:
- Have lost one or both parents.
- Have completed their secondary school education and received their national secondary school examination results (technical and vocational degrees are not accepted) within the last two years, including any date after August 1, 2021, up to February 9, 2024.
- Be born after September 1, 2001.
- Lack of financial means to attend university abroad without external support.
- Be proficient in English, French, or Portuguese.
- Have consistently ranked in the top 10% of their class during their last 2 or 3 years of secondary school.
- Commit to participating in two Ashinaga preparatory programs within one year before attending university.
- Be dedicated to returning to their home country or Sub-Saharan Africa to contribute to society after completing their university education.
- Have no dependents who could interfere with their academic progress.
- Be in good health condition to study abroad.
Value of Scholarship of the Ashinaga Undergraduate Scholarships
The Ashinaga (100-Year Vision) Scholarship provides a full scholarship covering tuition, accommodation (during terms and vacations), insurance, flights, and a monthly stipend for food and necessary academic expenses. Duration of Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for the entire duration of the undergraduate studies.
How to Apply
Students who register for the program will receive an email with a link to the application form within one month if they meet the program’s eligibility criteria. Applicants then submit various documents as part of their application, including their passports, high school transcripts, examination results, letters of recommendation, and more.
