Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this esteemed scholarship, applicants must meet specific criteria:
- Hold the nationality of a country in the Global South( Africa, Asia including the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean defined by the OECD.)
- Do not possess dual nationality from a Global North country.
- You should not have previously participated in a degree-seeking higher education program in the Netherlands.
- You must be under the age of 35 on September 1, 2024.
- Be (conditionally) admitted to the Global Studies study program.
- Demonstrate a commitment to becoming an active Global Studies and UM ambassador, sharing experiences in at least one session for students or stakeholders during and after your studies.

Step 1: Registration of a Global Studies Programme at Maastricht University
To initiate the application process:
- Register for a bachelor program using the UM Studielink.
- Submit your scholarship application with a student ID number from UM.
- Please note that you can apply for both the bachelor’s program and the scholarship. However, conditional admission to the bachelor program is a prerequisite for scholarship consideration.
Step 2: Fill in the Scholarship Application Form
Complete the Scholarship Application Form using your UM account:

To apply for the Maastricht University Global Studies Scholarship, ensure you have the following documents ready:
- Letter of Motivation: Use the provided template focusing on your motivation for the scholarship.
- Proof of Academic Excellence: Provide a transcript demonstrating continuous good to excellent results during your prior (high school) education.
- Personal Statement of Financial Needs:

4. Curriculum Vitae (CV):
