Benefits of the University of Twente Scholarship

  • Each year, the scholarship provides grants ranging from €3,000 to €22,000.
  • The scholarship covers study-related expenses.
  • Eligible students may also receive an additional UTS grant for the second year of their study program, equivalent to the first-year grant.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the University of Twente Scholarship, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Separate Application: Applying for a UT scholarship is a distinct process from applying for admission to a course at the University of Twente. Regardless of your funding source, you must secure academic admission first.
  • Program Admission: You must have received (provisional) admission to one of the qualifying UT Master’s programs commencing in the academic year 2023/2024, which typically begins in September. Please be aware that it might take up to 8 weeks to receive the results after submitting your application.
  • Student Number: You must possess a valid student number.
  • No Prior UT Graduation: Applicants who have not completed an undergraduate program at the University of Twente are eligible.
  • Visa Eligibility: If applicable, you must meet the criteria for obtaining an entry visa to the Netherlands.
  • English Proficiency: You need to meet the general English language test requirements, which include achieving an Academic IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 90, with an additional requirement of 6.0 on the subscore for speaking skills (TOEFL iBT 20).
  • Exclusion from Dutch Study Loan: Applicants should not be eligible for a Dutch study loan.
  • Excellence in Academics: The University Twente Scholarship is reserved for outstanding students. Typically, this implies that you are among the top 5 to 10 percent of your academic cohort.

  1. First, students apply for the master’s program and obtain admission to the University of Twente.
  2. After receiving admission, students must apply separately for the scholarship.
