Iowa State University Scholarship 2024

Iowa State University is proud to offer the Borel Global Fellows Program as part of their Iowa State University Scholarship 2024. The Iowa State University Scholarship is meant for international students from Sub-Saharan Africa to pursue postgraduate studies in the United States. 

This fully-funded scholarship supports graduate students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The aim is to foster expertise to address food and nutrition insecurity in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The program was initiated in 2018 through a generous contribution from ISU alumni Jim and Marcia Borel.

The focus is on educating scientists at Iowa State University who will serve as knowledge leaders, contributing to subsistence farming in the region. 

Scholarship Specifications

  • Host Country: United States of America (USA).
  • Study Abroad: Study-in-USA.
  • Educational Level: Masters Scholarships | Ph.D. Scholarships.
  • Program Duration: 30 months for Masters | 42 months for Ph.D. students.
  • Eligible Countries: All Sub-Saharan African Countries.
  • Standardized Test Status: No IELTS required.
  • Deadline: January 15, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Borel Global Fellowship, applicants must:

  • Be admitted into a graduate program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University.
  • Be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country.
  • Commit to completing graduate studies to contribute to food security in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Conduct the majority of their graduate research in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Demonstrate an intention to work and live in Sub-Saharan Africa after completing their studies.

Alsoyou may be eligible to apply for Fully Funded Maastricht University Scholarship 2024-2025.

Financial Benefits of Iowa State University Scholarship 2024

  • Up to $25,000 per year per student for graduate student stipends or a combination of a partial stipend and research funding.
  • Funding duration of up to 30 months for Masters students and up to 42 months for PhD students.
  • Additional funding for traveling to and from Africa.

Interested candidates should:

  1. Check whether they meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
  2. Submit a completed application, including a cover letter from the major professor, the student’s CV, and a copy of the student’s goal statement.
  3. The cover letter should address the professor’s commitment to provide the remaining required funding and support the student’s research in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  4. A professor at Iowa State University is to apply on behalf of accepted graduate students who have gained admission to study at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences program.
